About Us

For many years, I (Shelly) owned and operated Avian Antics Aviary and bred and raised most species of Macaws, Parrots, Cockatoos, and Conures as companion birds. During those years I learned much about keeping my feathered friends entertained and how to make safe, entertaining toys that provide variety and healthy exercise.
I closed the Aviary in 2002 and no longer breed and raise birds. Due to the extremely high number of unwanted birds in rescue and sanctuary situations; I now, make toys and/or donate supplies and $$$ for birds housed in Rescue/Sanctuary facilities.

Your purchase allows us to purchase toy parts so that we can continue to make toys for "rescue birds" and provides monetary contributions to benefit unwanted or otherwise displaced Exotic Birds.
This year alone we have made and donated toys and/or made monetary donations to 5 different not for profit Rescue/Sanctuary facilities in 5 different states! In addition, we made and donated toys as well as food, cages and money to 2 individuals whom had fallen on difficult times and the feathered victims of the Lake Tahoe Fires.
We work, in part through a non-profit organization known as the "Parrot Toy Angels" (www.parrottoyangels.com). In addition, we work with several organizations privately.

Each month we feature a different Rescue, Sanctuary or Avian Welfare Organization and donate Toys, Supplies and the proceeds of that month's sales to the featured organization.
For every happy, healthy and loved bird in your home, there are two -- neglected, unwanted and unloved birds out there. The *lucky* ones find their way to Rescue Shelters or Sanctuaries.
It is our goal to make high quality, safe, entertaining and AFFORDABLE toys for your birds that will also benefit those unfortunate birds waiting for homes in Rescue or Sanctuary facilities.
